Resin Jewelry Care
Share
Caring for your new keepsake may seem intimidating, but a few rules will help your keepsake looking its best for years to come!
Things to know:
1. Never use harsh abrasives on your jewelry, or chemical based cleaners. These can scuff or mar the surface, resulting in a scratched, cloudy or hazy finish.
2. Your new jewelry IS waterproof! HOWEVER, it is always the best practice to remove before bathing, swimming, or exercising. (This is best practice for all jewelry.)
3. Gentle cleansing is best. A gentle cleaning with mild soap and warm water, followed by a gentle wipe dry should take care of any grime. The sterling chain or ring can be wiped with a silver polishing cloth.
4. If your jewelry becomes hazy or scratched, a gentle buff can restore the original shiny finish. A gentle, low abrasion wax based polish (Polish made for resin is best, but some Turtle wax can work in a pinch) used my hand with a soft cloth is recommended.
5. When you are not wearing your jewelry, it should be stored away, preferably in an airtight container to inhibit tarnishing. While tarnish is a natural result of the oxidation of sterling silver jewelry, many consider it unsightly. Prevention is always easier than removal, and anti-tarnish bags help in this aspect.
