A hand smithed sterling silver pendant featuring a preserved Green Orchid Bee resting atop a daisy flower, in hand cast resin, in a domed effect to mimic the magnification of a looking glass.
The sweet little bee seen here was a visitor to my garden- I have so many of these beauties visit here in Florida- and was found beneath some flowers one day, naturally deceased. Green Orchid bees (Euglossa dilemma) like this beauty are frequently seen here, they are solitary bees that do not create hives, but do help to pollinate several species of fruit and flowers. The ones that visit my garden are especially partial to the Blue Porterweed and Phalaenopsis Orchids I grow.
