A hand smithed sterling silver pendant featuring a stunning blue Mabe pearl from the South Pacific, nestled in a wreath of silver and 14k goldfill "bubbles". The back hides a tiny goldfish surprise. A unique and one of a kind piece of jewelry handcrafted here in sunny Florida, perfect for yourself for the "mermaid" in your life.
Comes on a 18" long chain.
Handmade in sterling silver and 14/20 goldfill wire, this necklace is a unique and beautiful piece of art to adorn your (or someone special's) neck!
Pendant measures 22mm wide. 12mm "deep" at crown of pearl.
Cultured pearl is approx 15mm wide .

About Mabe Pearls:
"Mabe pearls, additionally referred to as blister pearls, are half-pearls that might be cultivated at the interior of a mollusk's shell. A small nucleus generally constituted of a mother of pearl, is connected to the shell of the mollusk and left to build up nacre over a length that generally runs approximately 3 years."
About South Pacific Pearls:
"The South Pacific pearl, known also as the Australian pearl, comes from the mollusk Pinctada Maxima and is cultivated throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans, mainly in Australia, on the southern coast of China, but also in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Myanmar.
The South Pacific pearls are among the largest cultivated in the whole world. Their average size is 13 mm, with a diameter range from 9 to 20 mm. There are several factors that contribute to the attainment of such large diameters: the size of the Pinctada Maxima oyster, the size of the nucleus that is inserted in the process of nucleation, the lapse of time (the pearls are left in the oysters for several years), the area of production (the environment in which the oysters are grown)."
